Growing up I wasn’t actually a monster fan until I was in my early teens. I will always remember though around when I was 7 I received an Aurora Dracula model kit (and my brother got the Frankenstein kit). These kits had the glow in the dark feature and there were times I would lay in bed at night watching them glow, wondering if they would attack me when I fell asleep. Thankfully they did not and these kits may have actually have been what lead me to my love of all things monsters.

US Halloween meets Mexico’s Day of the Dead via Spacetaste Gallery!
Whenever national Horror Host, Svengoolie, makes a public appearance, I try to not only attend the event but also linger whenever possible (remember, “linger” sounds better than “stalking”). Though his average guest turn out is so large that it affords me little time to actually interact with the host, there are definite benefits to just “hanging around.”
A NEW Coffin for Horror Host, Svengoolie!
It’s after 1am and I’ve just returned from one VERY memorable evening. I attended Elgin, Illinois’ “Nightmare on Chicago Street” which I can say with 100% sincerity was the most satisfying Halloween season event I’ve attended to date! There will be MUCH more on that in future posts. Not only was the event loads of fun, it was downright historic for us Svengoolie fans. After 40 plus years, and a Rich Koz make-over, the original Svengoolie coffin is going into a much-deserved retirement. TONIGHT its successor was finally revealed…
What Lurks Behind the Mask?
As summer comes to an end and Fall sets in, Halloween becomes the next big event on many calendars. It takes time and effort to choose and prepare the perfect costume for this legendary Fright Night. Whilst some pride themselves on top make-up skills, others will find a mask is the perfect finishing touch to their outfit.
Masks are no costume cop-out, in fact they have been used to disguise and entertain for thousands of years.
G-FEST XIX Godzilla & Kaiju Models: Sculpting Scares and Creating Magic!
I have to confess that my favorite part of G-Fest is checking out the amazing models created by fans and put on display during the weekend. I had tried my hand at it a couple of years too but found out that I am better off sticking to writing as opposed to model-making. This stigma, however, is a personal issue, as ALL ages and skill levels are not only welcomed but encouraged here.
