The day after we visited Baltimore, we toured the Maryland Zoo with some pals before crossing the New Jersey state line. New Jersey is one state that seems to find itself the butt of jokes and get a lot of crap from the rest of the Union but I have to say, it’s really quite beautiful (Snookie not withstanding). I remember the first time I drove through was on Labor Day Weekend 2012 en route to see David. Despite being sick of driving and eager to reach my destination, I pulled over twice to take in the scenery. We’d managed to finish seeing the zoo by noon and found ourselves with extra time on our hands. This provided us with the perfect opportunity to do something else we’d discussed but weren’t sure how to fit in.

EC Comics Carved the Way!
Despite being nearly two decades since I stopped collecting, my kids will tell you I’m a strong advocate for comic books. Back in the ‘80s I was all about the Marvel superheroes before they became the Box Office sensations they are today. I’d often read and re-read the adventures of The Amazing Spider-man, The Uncanny X-Men, The Mighty Avengers, and ROM the Spaceknight (if you aren’t familiar with him, you should check out one of my very first blogs HERE) to my younger brother, Keith. While comics are often dismissed as being childish, many folks don’t realize that most are written at college level. All through junior high & high school my reading skills were better than average and, dismissing the possibility that I’m some sort of a genius, I firmly believe this was due to my devotion to comics which encouraged me to read…a LOT!
Cosplay at the Chicago Wizard Comic Con!
Meeting the Amazing Stan Lee was faster than Spider-man!
Terror from Beyond the Daves is pleased to welcome guest writer, Russ Wrangler, in our continuing coverage of The Fright Night/Fandomfest!
I woke up Saturday morning and Dave was already gone. If his bed hadn’t been unmade I wouldn’t have even known he’d came back the night before. I got ready and headed over to The Kentucky Convention Center to finally meet the great Stan Lee. I’d been a fan of Marvel Comics growing up and had always wanted this opportunity which is why I chose his VIP pass over the others. I wasn’t alone.
The Costumes of C2E2…Conclusion!
This is the final post of photos from the 2013 C2E2…I promise! The horror world has been running a bit slow of late but, come July, I’ll have the opposite problem. There’s some more conventions on the summer horizon and, judging from the big response I got from my last Horrorhound diary, I’ll do my best to continue that sort of moment to moment coverage. In the mean time, enjoy the creative costumes of C2E2…
