Friday, April 6, 2018, 10:15am – My daughters, Leia and Jade, and I arrive at McCormick Place just after the Chicago Comic & Entertainment Expo (C2E2) begins. This year they had security checkpoints set up like the ones they have at airports which created some delay. While approaching the metal detectors, I notice a Wonder Woman cosplayer in front of me holding a sword and a guy behind me with a laser gun. I swear this is the only Security Screen in history where folks walk in proudly brandishing weapons!

2012 Horrorhound Weekend Costume Contest (Part 1)!
I’ve said it before and I’ll say it again….it’s always the fans themselves that are the best part of any genre convention! Especially the ones that decide to dress up in costumes. These folks don’t need Halloween to strut their sinister stuff on the killer cat-walk and both Daves are always amazed at the incredible creativity that goes into many of them. There were quite a few monstrous characters walking around the 2012 Ohio Horrorhound Weekend but, fortunately, we were able to catch many in one spot as they converged for the Saturday night costume contest!
Our Favorite Genre Films of 2011!
As 2011 winds its way down, we can all agree that this certainly wasn’t a stellar year for horror. This should not suggest, however, that it didn’t have a few note worthy genre entries on the whole. As everyone seems intent on doing a “Year of Review” we thought we might add our own picks for our favorite horror/sci-fi films of 2011.
Redneck Redemption: “Tucker and Dale vs. Evil!”
In these politically correct times, stereotypes regarding an individuals race, gender, and sexual orientation are no longer permissible in open, everyday conversation nor our general media. This trend began in the 1990’s and is now regarded as social Canon. Some argue that it has been taken a bit too far but, regardless, I’m sure most of us can agree that people should be treated respectfully and not have to deal with prejudices regarding who they are – so long as they aren’t committing crimes nor harming others.
