Last Friday, the Horror Hosting world was rocked with the news that their beloved friend, and fellow host, Barry Hobart a.k.a. Dr. Creep had passed away. As neither of The Daves had the privilege of meeting Dr. Creep nor had any familiarity with his show, we did not feel qualified to present our own tribute piece. Instead we felt it would be more appropriate to hear from his peers, as well as those whom had met and worked alongside him. Before his death we felt it unfortunate that we never me Mr. Hobart. After reading some of the amazing tributes below, it is even more regretful.

Wolfman Mac’s Chiller Drive-in Open House: The Gates of Sir Graves Ghastly!

As Mac entered the Open House, I noticed him generate the same fanfare and excitement I had witnessed during his appearance at Horrorhound. Crowds of people enveloped him as Mac happily posed for pictures. A short time later, he noticed me across the room and waved. He then took a short-cut over to the “Projection Room” set where he would formally greet his guests.

Last Thursday, I headed up to Michigan to attend the studio Open House for “Wolfman Mac’s Chiller Drive-in!” Prior to this event, I wrestled with the idea of making a nearly five hour exodus for the value of an evening’s worth of entertainment but, realizing the rarity of this opportunity, decided to just go fort it. In the end, it was well worth it!
