Terror from Beyond the Daves is pleased to welcome guest teen writers, Jade & Leia Fuentes!
On the weekend of July 3-5th Anime Midwest took place the Donald E. Stephen’s Convention Center in Rosemont. Though we’re big fans of Japanese animation, this was our first year attending the event and we weren’t sure what to expect.
When we first arrived we got in line for registration which, despite the big crowd, was well organized and ran smoothly. We knew we were at the place when we saw all the great cosplay this event attracts (and a lot of Deadpools)!
The main floor was large and chock full of great sight! Our only complaint was that the lighting seemed rather dim and our eyes were never quite able to adjust to it. The attending dealers offered interesting items; many of which that were hand-crafted.
We’re both big fans of steampunk and the Steam Powered Giraffe; a musical, robot troupe from San Diego that performs comedic sketches along with elaborate stage shows. Anime’ Midwest offered us the rare opportunity of meeting the group and getting our photos taken with them…for FREE. The line was long but moved quickly and it was great being around fellow fans.
The night ended with us seeing them in concert at the Grand Ballroom across the street. The show was very entertaining and their voices were amazing.Anime Midwest was a fun experience! We’ll definitely be back next year!
