I was 8 years old when PROPHECY hit the theaters. I remember seeing a picture of the monster in one of my parent’s magazines and begging the adults in my life to take me to see it. Of course none of them would siting, “You’ll get nightmares!” Monster kids will note that this was the “You’ll shoot your eye out kid,” line handed to us with consistent regularity. It would be a full decade when, in my teenaged years, I’d finally be able to see the film on VHS. In my opinion, it was well worth the wait.

Night of the Living Legend: Mr. Mephisto Hosts Again!
In case you haven’t heard the news (which means you missed yesterday’s Weekend Horror Host Report you naughty reader), Wisconsin’s Mr. Mephisto will be making a full make-up return to hosting this Tuesday night via The Vortexx in a “Bordello of Horror” Double Feature!
Haunted New England: The Spider Gates Cemetery!
There are definitely pros and cons with living in New England. The cons are actually the lack of cons! That’s right, we get very little in the way of horror conventions in our neck of the woods. The pros though are many and include a wide variety of history, much of it supernatural. Rhode Island, the smallest state in the union, boasts more incidents of vampirism than all other states combined and it is believed that Bram Stoker based his best-selling novel on what was going on right in my back yard.
Horror Hosts Penny Dreadful & Dr. Destruction Dish on “Dark Shadows!”
Not long after the premiere of Tim Burton’s DARK SHADOWS, we shared the insights of Dr. Destruction (a life long fan of the show) which you can revisit HERE. Destruction wasn’t the only one eager to share his two cents as horror hostess, Penny Dreadful, also posted her own blog on the subject (see HERE). I suddenly found myself wishing I could sit down with the two of them (metaphorically speaking) and have them answer a few questions regarding their immense fandom of the show. And here’s what happened…
Terror from Beyond the Daves Rondo Arrives!
It was a grueling day at work, Thursday, with a day spent at a company meeting where the dreaded words, “We’re going to be doing some restructuring” came into play. While most of my co-workers went into a panic, I chose to remain calm and optimistic. This is a definite year for “change” so far as my life is concerned but, rather than look it as a challenge I am choosing to see these upheavals as opportunities to grow and reach new heights. Needless to say, I can’t describe how happy I was when I came home and saw a box had arrived with “Rondo Awards” listed in the return address.
Tribute to Ray Bradbury: My Five Favorites!
It is unlikely that any regular reader of this blog has not, in some way, been touched by the work of the great American writer, Ray Bradbury. The Science Fiction/Horror/Fantasy writer was truly one of us; someone who never outgrew his childhood love of dinosaurs, monsters, and aliens all the way until his death, yesterday, at the age of 91. The Internet is now rife with tributes and retrospectives of his amazing life and I have enjoyed reading a few. In that regard, I don’t feel that there is anything I can add. Instead, I am going to go all “Oprah” on you and list my Five Favorite things that he did. And, no, I will not be giving away free cars and merchandise, so you can remain seated and relatively calm. Also, this is not to suggest that in the course of Bradbury’s prolific career and multitude of accomplishments, that I ONLY like five of them. To go through them all would be like creating another Horror Host Report and this blog has only room for one of those epic posts per week. Here it goes…
