About The Terror Daves!
Hello, and thanks for visiting Terror from Beyond the Daves! I’m Dave Fuentes and live (grew up) in the suburbs of Chicago. My youth was influenced by “Creature Features,” the “Monstrous Movie,” comic books, Topp’s Wacky Packages, and the horror host, Son of Svengoolie (Rich Koz)! I’m STILL fortunate to see Koz on commercial TV (national no less) today – now simply as Svengoolie! I love horror, science fiction, and monster movies in all its forms be it STAR WARS, Godzilla, Pumpkinhead, Zombies, Aliens, Killer Klowns , 80’s slashers, gore, man vs nature, the supernatural, vintage classics…well you get the idea. I wanted a site that would highlight genre fans, artisans, and not just the films that inspire us. In 2009 I met the “other” Dave and we created this site to pay homage to local artists, fan conventions, and our beloved host, Svengoolie! Don’t expect the usual film reviews and assessments here either. There are so many great magazines and resources available for those interested in horror, but the real story is what goes on at the fan level. That being said, isn’t it nice now that us geeks have inherited the Earth?
Hello and welcome to Terror from Beyond the Daves; the labor of love and result of two friends living in different parts of the United States who both have a love for horror, science fiction, monsters, and the horror host Svengoolie! I’ve lived most of my life in Jamestown, Rhode Island and for the most part, I was a geek growing up. I was never into sports and spent a lot of time doing my own thing. This included collecting and studying insects as well as watching monster movies whenever I could. I fondly remember every Tuesday receiving the new issue of TV Guide and I would go through it page by page, highlighting that week’s monster movies and doing everything I could to watch as many as I could. Since most of these films appeared on UHF stations, I was at the mercy of the weather each day as to the clarity of the show. I am happy to say that I still haven’t grown up and still feel a child-like wonder during Halloween and Christmas and to this day I still read comic books and collect toys. To me this site helps to keep that child-like wonder alive, by allowing me to share my memories with the readers of Terror from Beyond the Daves, in the hope that it will help them to remember what it was like to be a kid again.
