The Horror Host world was buzzing this past week when it was announced that during their Tuesday night/winter finale, the hit TV show “Glee” would be featuring a fictional “horror host” with a rather familiar name. Pegged to judge the regional competition was “America’s #1 Late Night Horror Host” – “Svengoobles!” Yes it turns out that one of the show’s creator’s, Ian Brennan, was a native Chicagoan who, like The Daves, grew up enjoying the horror host antics of Rich Koz’s Svengoolie! The character showed up towards the end and, while he had little actual resemblance to the real “Sven” no doubt due to copyright concerns, he did come out of an upright coffin! One can only hope that the real Svengoolie will make an actual appearance on the show! Imagine him breaking into one of his old parody songs like “I saw Plan 9″ (to Ace of Base’s “I saw the sign”) while the Glee kids are prancing about holding cardboard tombstones and paper plate flying saucers (homage to the Ed Wood disaster-piece). The number would come to an abrupt end as Sue Sylvester (Jane Lynch) begins tossing rubber chickens at the chagrin host. Ahhh….one can only dream!
This weekend at 10pm Eastern/9pm Central its an ALL-NEW Svengoolie on MeTV with THE INVISIBLE WOMAN!
Chicago fans can start their Svengoolie viewing early on Saturday with an encore presentation of MUNSTER, GO HOME on WCIU TV at 11am!
Select Chicago fans can also see a vintage Sven presentation on UToo at 3pm Central. This weekend its ZONE TROOPERS!
Dave Fuentes had a great time seeing Svengoolie recently at The Hawthorne Racetrack (see story HERE)…
Don’t miss out on future Sven appearances on OFFICIAL SITE as well as for his updates, addictive daily blogs, and great Svengoolie merchandise like his NEW T-shirt!
This week on Zomboo’s House Of Horror Movies is one of the scaariest movies ever made…THE CURSE OF NOSTRADAMUS! This film was made in Mexico in 1959. The English language version was released in America in 1962. Nostradamus the vampire is a direct descendent of sixteenth century prophet Nostradamus. Professor Stupido does not believe in vampires, so Nostradamus kills two of the good professor’s buddies before being chased through a maze of tunnels. Curse of Nostradamus is the first in a series of Nostradamus films. Curse of Nostradamus stars German Robles, Domingo Soler, Julio Aleman, and Jack Taylor.
If you would like to order Zomboo merchandise, including his new t-shirt, please go HERE!
Greetings!
This week on Creature Feature I bring you Todd Slaughter in the much abused film, “Horror Maniacs!” AND…during the break, I bring you my first music video of the 21st century! Why? Because, I’m sexy and I know it! It all takes place in The Lab!
Meanwhile, in The Tomb, the TombKeeper will be serving up three deliciously shivery tomes of terror from her favorite writer of southern gothic terror, award-winning author Elizabeth Massie.
For the anime fans, Stefanie Von Guest takes a close look at the cyberpunk, cult hit, “Akira!” you can read it in The Loft!
Remember the little boy who starred in “Day the Earth Stood Still?” Well, he name was Billy Gray, he grew up to star in “Father Knows Best” and this week, Mark J. Gross has an interview with him in The Atrium!
Speaking of interviews, Athena, the Crowgrrl, interviews Cole Hadden, the writer of Dark Horse Comic’s “The Strange Case of Mr. Hyde.” You’ll find that interview down by The Moat. She also has a review of this comic series in The Chamber!
Lady Pam De Graff has a contemporary DVD on review in The Screaming Room!
Dita Dirt Nap has a good old culty DVD on review in Dita’s Den.

New episodes of Ormsby’s Cinema Insane will debut on March 4th.
In the meantime we have started a mini show called “Ask Ormsby”, where Ormsby answers questions sent in from viewers. We noticed that besides the emails about horror movies and other assorted hate mail, people would ask Ormsby advice on dating, cooking, and other everyday stuff that we thought would be funny for him to answer in his own twisted way. New episodes of Ask Ormsby go up every two weeks.
If anyone would like to ask Ormsby a question, please send them to Ormsby’s NEW email address: ormsbyhost@gmail.com
Ormsby resently released “SH!# Horror Hosts Say…” on Youtube. Much as the title suggests, it is stuff that every horror host has probably said at one time or another.
About Ormsby: Ormsby, originally from Transylvania, is the caretaker, cultural attaché, and mad scientist at Transylvania’s Embassy located in the Haunted Lighthouse of Mastic. He lives with his (mostly) deceased Mother, DuckBoy (made from the parts of a pizza delivery boy and a duck) and 200 little girl clones.
From the Lighthouse he hosts Ormsby’s Cinema Insane (www.cinemainsane.com), which started on the internet in February of 2010. Ormsby is an authority on cloning, horror movies, and cute red heads.
Ormsby recently broke up with Tina Fey. He refuses to return her underwear.
Please join us this Saturday at 1:00pm EST on Facebook/Tingler TV and You Tube for a very special Weird Web Theater. Why is it so special? For one Mod Ghoul and The Ghoul Kids are presenting Night Of The Living Dead. Also Weird Web Theater has expanded from the way we usually do the show. That’s right. You get to see more of us. Maybe that isn’t such a good thing. Maybe it is. I don’t know. At any rate, WWT is expanding and this is a very special show indeed so please join us for the fun. A classic movie and more of your favorite (maybe) horror hosts- Mod Ghoul and The Ghoul Kids. Cheers mates.
If I remember correctly, this week’s feature film is one of Roxsy Tyler’s favorite of the old B films.
Starting this weekend, Movie Madness with Dr. Praxis presents The Gorilla, starring the Ritz Bros. with Lionel Atwill, Bela Lugosi, and Patsy Kelly.
When a wealthy man (Lionel Atwill) is threatened by a killer known as The Gorilla, he hires the Ritz Brothers to investigate. A real escaped gorilla shows up at the mansion just as the investigators arrive. Patsy Kelly portrays a newly hired maid who wants to quit because the butler, played by Bela Lugosi, scares her.
That’s starting this weekend on Movie Madness with Dr. Praxis.
Movie Madness with Dr. Praxis is a hosted horror show, doing his small part to keep alive the traditions of hosts like Zacherley, Ghoulardi, Svenghouli, Count Gore, Stella Desire, Vampira, Elvira, etc.
Movie Madness with Dr. Praxis can be seen on Owensboro Public Access Channel 72, through the Movie Madness with Dr. Praxis website, through the Hocus Focus Horror Host Haven website, each Saturday night on Angel’s Asylum and every Monday Night through Pararock TV. 2012 is here and Mr. Lobo is glad to say things are back on track! In case you heard it here first, my assistant and collaborator, Dixie Dellamorto and “Mr. Lobo” got married on January 13th of this year. This has forged a deeper partnership and we are now a deadly two headed art machine of creative justice!
We have a new editing system and several new production companies, including LEOMANN PICTURES and RANDORI PRODUCTIONS, helping to finish the remaining shows to meet our lofty goal of 26. We have a shooting day next Tuesday and Sunday these teams can help edit as well. A new horror channel that we cannot yet name has also promised to supply studio time and resources starting in May.
As you know, 2011 was a rough year for the show and many people close to the show, with more pitfalls than promise and many doors closing in our face that have been open for a long time. If it wasn’t for your Kickstarter donations, I’m not sure how Cinema Insomnia would have survived. After our newest episode, a crisis of crew and computers, teamed with family health issues, and our resale DVD distribution hitting bottom resulted in a need for restructuring from the ground up.
We now control all remaining DVDs, which still were still selling well in person and are offering signed and number copies of the last few APPREHENSIVE FILMS versions of the shows. 25% discount is offered to all Kickstarter donors who email Mr. Lobo with any requests for episodes they want on DVD.
In September we will start mailing out all Kickstarter rewards, even if we do not yet have 26 new shows in the rotation. Thank you for your incredible support and patience…
In the meantime, we are sticking to our guns, writing, producing, and editing shows…for a brave new world beyond the DVD market. We will be keeping in continual contact with the fans through our new website CinemaInsomnia.com with a calendar that will post production dates as well as live appearances. New shows will also be posted there. Please contact us with any feedback and let us know how we can make the site more useful and enjoyable….http://www.coem,a/

However we think you’ll agree that NOTLD is one flick that we can show every year and not feel guilty about it.

Don’t miss Ormon Grimsby at the Mad Monster Party the weekend of March 23-25th! Also, don’t miss Ormon’s Monster Creature Feature show every Tuesday and Thursday evening on The Monster Channel!
From Ormon: I made three new video posts to YouTube. First off is a music video I did with the Atlanta based band Radio Cult. The video has some stuff with the band and Ormon running around our set.
Second, I decided to post the two long running video bits we did for our live Halloween show this past October with Southern Culture on the Skids. It’s all in old school 3D, and while the compression on YouTube hurts it a bit, it still is a pretty neat effect.
The Daves would like to welcome the one and only Ivonna Cadaver to our weekly reports! You can check out all of the latest happenings with Ivonna and her show Macabre Theatre by visiting her official website HERE! You can also meet Ivonna in person at HorrorHound Weekend the weekend of March 23-25th! Also, if you are not in her viewing area, many of her shows are available OnDemand through Amazon! Click HERE for more information!
HORROR HOST DOCUMENTARY NOMINATED FOR RONDO AWARD
RICHMOND– A small budget independent documentary about Virginia television horror host, The Bowman Body, a.k.a. legendary broadcaster, Bill Bowman, is scaring up significant attention this year. The film, “Hi There Horror Movie Fans,” is nominated for Best Documentary of 2011 in the 10th Annual Rondo Hatton Awards.
The documentary from Horse Archer Productions chronicles the long and influential run of the Bowman Body’s wildly popular and unpredictable shows that ran across the state from 1970 to 1987 in various incarnations. In fact, when “Shock Theater” ran on Friday nights in Richmond, for example, the show got more than a 50% share of viewership, beating even late night king, Johnny Carson, in the ratings.
It also relates several tales from the wild and wooly days of 1970s television including the time Bowman accidentally redirected a funeral in his promotional hearse, an appearance of naked college girls at his home and a group of Hells Angels showing up at a promotion looking for autographs.
For more information about this film, go to www.bowmanbody.com.
I am just now starting to put together the FRIGHT NIGHT CINEMA Halloween Special VOL 3! The show will have a whole new look and new robots as well. Horror Hosts such as THE BONE JANGLER, ROXSY TYLER, HALLOWEEN JACK and UNCLE SCARY will be making special appearances in this episode along with MANY more guests!
It’s Alive is a television show produced in the same format as the highly successful Pittsburgh favorite Chiller Theater. Classic horror movies are presented by a talented cast performing comedy and live music. The show is aired Saturday nights at 10:00 PM on WBGN, a local station reaching over one million households, or can be seen anytime from anywhere via our website www.theitsaliveshow.com. Movie selection and show content appeal to a wide demographic with core viewers being 18 to 34.
In October 2006, 2007 & 2008 The It’s Alive Show sponsored the world’s largest zombie gatherings, as certified by Guinness World Records™, which drew 894 official participants in 2006, 1124 in 2007 & 1375 in 2008. In 2009 we had 1,934 zombies, 2010 4,800 and Zombie Fest 2011 brought in 4,397 zombies. Every year we have provided non-perishable food donations for the Greater Pittsburgh Community Food Bank and held a charity auction to support Susan G. Komen for the Cure.
